Jewela Dare Hawks Goins

Jewela Dare Hawks Goins went to be with Jesus on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022 at Northern Regional Hospital in Mt. Airy, NC. Jewela was born on May 4, 1938, in Carroll County, Virginia, the daughter of Cleddie Lowe & Oscar B. Hawks. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Cyndy Vipperman (& Jimmy) and Sarah Tickles (& Rockey, Jr.); one son, Matthew Goins; three grandchildren, Samantha Tickles, Rockey Tickles, III, and Katrina Tickles; one brother, Tony Lowe (& Libby); and a special aunt, Opal Lamb and several dearly loved cousins. Jewel was a homemaker and known for her organ playing at Welcome Baptist & Victory Baptist for many years. She also played piano for her family to sing. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, A. L. Goins and stepfather, Cecil G. Lowe. A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022 at 2 pm at Skyline Memorial Gardens with Rev. Ewell Vernon and Rev. Terry McInnis officiating. Viewing will be Thursday, January 6th from 1:30 - 5:00 pm at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy, NC.
