Mr. Jim Donald Golden, 82, husband of Elva Louise Bumgarner Golden, of Dobson, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday April 23, 2007. He was born in Wilkes County on October 26, 1924 to the late Clarence and Faye Royal Golden. Mr. Golden was formerly employed as a manager of Hines Shoe Store, later known as Hine Bagby Shoe Company. He was an avid fiddler and made many public appearances showing his love for bluegrass music. He also served as a Deputy in Forsyth County through the Special Services. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served our country during WWII and was a member of Rockford Baptist Church. Surviving are his loving wife, Elva Bumgarner Golden of the home; a son Larry Golden and fiance, Sharon Bryant of Dobson, NC and a sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and Max Curry of Davidson County, NC. In addition to his parents, Mr. Golden was preceded in death by a brother, Claude Eldon Golden. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 Wednesday at Rockford Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Eric Ayers officiating and Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mtn. Post 9436. The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Rockford Baptist Church, 4947 Rockford Road Dobson, NC 27017 There will be no formal visitation.
