Jim Thomas Moore

Mr. Jim Thomas Moore, 73, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday, August 20, 2018, at Twelve Oaks Assisted Living Facility.  Mr. Moore was born March 28, 1945, in Surry County, to the late Hurley Estes and Lasker Beasley Moore.  In Mr. Moore’s early years, while in high school, Jim was a radio announcer for WPAQ radio station.  He proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and he later worked in the mailroom at Dow Chemical.  He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Wade and Lorine Moore of Mount Airy; a niece and her husband, Debbie and Garry Catoe of Fort Mill, SC; and a great niece and her husband, Kelli and Hiram Shannon of Rock Hill, SC.  A graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at 3:30 PM at Skyline Memory Gardens, with Dr. Jon Cawley officiating.  No formal visitation will be held.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
