Jimmy Wayne Belcher

         Mr. Jimmy Wayne Belcher, age 63 of Woolwine, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.  He was born in Patrick County on July 2, 1955 to the late Waller E. Belcher and Beadie E. Hylton Belcher.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Belcher was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Roy Belcher; a sister, Elsie Marie Belcher and his father-in-law, Earl Rakes. He loved to rabbit hunt, trade guns and spend time with his family and friends, especially his granddaughter Aubree, who he lovingly called “Oatmeal” a nickname she picked up at Howells Grocery where she had breakfast every morning with her Papa.  Jim was a good-hearted person who was always willing to help others and loved to pick and joke with everyone he knew. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

         Mr. Belcher is survived by his wife, Teresa Rakes Belcher of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Amber and Anthony Brown of Lawsonville, NC; one grandchild, Aubree Layne Brown; a step-granddaughter, Alyssa; one brother and sister-in-law, Everett and Carolyn Belcher of Woolwine; one sister and brother-in-law, Annie and Willard Harmon of Floyd, VA; a mother-in-law, Mary Jo Rakes, two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law; Wayne Rakes; Mike and Peggy Rakes all of Stuart; several nieces and nephews, a uncle, aunts, cousins and friends.

         A celebration of life service will be held, Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 3:00 PM in Jim’s garage at 210 Windy Ridge Lane, Woolwine, VA 24185. The family asks that everyone bring a covered dish and come to celebrate the life of Jim. The family will receive friends at other times at the home. Burial will be private.  The family would like to say thank you to the doctors and nurses at Roanoke Memorial ICU for the care and kindness they showed.
