Jimmy "Big Jim" Ray Mitchell

Mr. Jimmy Ray “Big Jim” Mitchell, age 83 of Claudville, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2022, at his home.  He was born in Patrick County on June 9, 1938, to the late George C. Mitchell and Virginia Beasley Mitchell.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Jerrald Mitchell.  Jimmy served in the U.S. Army.  He loved riding motorcycles and listening to and playing music.  He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his friends.

          Surviving is his loving wife of 59 years, Cleo Cox Mitchell of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Joey and Pam Mitchell of Claudville; one granddaughter, Maggie Mitchell of Winston-Salem, NC; and a host of special friends, especially at the “round table”.

          A memorial visitation will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2022, from 3 PM to 5 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.  All other services will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jerrald William Mitchell Scholarship Fund c/o Maggie Mitchell, 5792 Top Ct., Winston-Salem, NC 27104.  Online condolences may be sent to www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
