Jimmy Gray Hamlin

Jimmy Gray Hamlin, 80, of Dobson, NC, passed away at his home on Saturday, February 5, 2022, surrounded by his beloved wife and daughter. He was born in Surry County on July 16, 1941, to the late Wiley Braxton Hamlin and Virginia Coe Hamlin. Jimmy retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company after 31 years. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

Jimmy will be remembered for his kind and gentle spirit, fun-loving nature, and infectious smile. The simplest pleasures in life brought him great joy. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, woodworking, reading, watching Gunsmoke, and having breakfast with his buddies.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his brothers Dillard Hamlin, Gaither Hamlin, John Allen Hamlin, Spencer Hamlin, and S.C. Hamlin; sisters Peggy Driver, Polly Wilmoth, and Kathy Hamlin; sister-in-law Janie Hamlin and brothers-in-law Rick Shores and R.J. White.

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Libby White Hamlin; daughter and son-in-law, Tricia and Craig Gambill of Winston-Salem; brother, Folger Hamlin of Dobson; sister, Gloria Driver (C.W.) of Boonville; brother-in-law, Terry White (Beth) of Dobson; sisters-in-law, Pat Shores of Thurmond, Robin White of Dobson; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A graveside service will be held at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2022, with Pastor Billy Nale officiating. Please honor the family by wearing a mask and social distancing.
