Mr. Jimmy Ray “J.R.” McRoberts, 75, of Lowgap, passed away Monday night, November 6, 2017, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. McRoberts was born February 8, 1942, in Browns, IL, one of three children born to the late Blythe “Bud” and Mary Lou Moore McRoberts. J.R. proudly served our country in the United States Army. He was a welder for many years and was employed at Watson Metals Company. He is survived by his wife, Angela East McRoberts; three daughters, Cindy Flynn, Roxy Wyatt, and Dawn McRoberts; three sons, Dennis McRoberts, Donald McRoberts, and Justin Pike; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary McRoberts; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tommy and Jewel East; and three brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law, Ronald and Tammie Cathey, Kenneth and Mary Cathey, Tim and Windy East, and Carol McRoberts. In addition to his parents, Mr. McRoberts was preceded in death by a brother, Tom McRoberts. The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 11, 2017, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Larry Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Bryant Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
