Jimmy Ray Newman

Mr. Jimmy Ray Newman, 81, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Northern Regional Hospital.  Mr. Newman was born September 16, 1941, in Surry County, to the late Clifford and Virginia Ashburn Newman.  Left to cherish his memory are his children, Pat Largen (John), Bonita Harrison (Mike), Lisa Brooks (Ben), and Charles Newman (Peggy); several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three sisters, Judy McCraw (Delmer), Sandra Newman, and Rhonda Collins (David); and his fiancée of 45 years, Carolyn Watts and her children, Stephanie Simmons, Shannon Watts, and John Watts.  The funeral service will be held Monday, February 20, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Charlie Newman officiating.  Burial will follow on the family farm.  The family will receive friends Monday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
