Jimmy "Ray" Sawyers

Mr. Jimmy “Ray” Sawyers, age 82 of Lowgap, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.  He was born on January 10, 1941, in Patrick County to the late Jimmie and Susie Goins Sawyers.  Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Brenda Coalson Sawyers; children, Steven “Pnutt” Sawyers (Melissa), Corey Sawyers, Candie Lawson; grandchildren, Logan Sawyers, Courtney Henley (Jake), Joshua Berrier (Jordan), Jacob Sawyers, Marleigh Sawyers; great-grandchildren, Weston Berrier, Cayson Berrier; brother and sister-in-law, David Sawyers (Cookie); special friend, Timmy Bingham.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Sawyers was preceded in death by a sister, Irene White; brothers, Haywood and Herbert Sawyers.  A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 27, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Smith Golding Cemetery with service conducted by Jake Henley.  The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:00 PM until time to leave for the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.  In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family.
