"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." Mrs. Jo Frances Jones "MeMaw" Adams, 74, of Dobson, wife of Don R. Adams, finished her earthly journey and entered the gates of heaven on Thursday, July 8, 2010. She was born December 20, 1935, in Surry County, to the late Joseph Henry and Martha Poindexter Jones. Mrs. Adams was a homemaker and a dedicated member of Fairview Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 55 years, Don R. Adams of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Keith Hudson and Luann and Greg Thomas, all of Dobson; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Kim Adams of Dobson; nine grandchildren, Jordan Adams of Cleveland, SC, Lauren and husband Ty Tilley of Ararat, Jared Adams of Charlotte, Kody, Luke and Haley Hudson, all of Dobson, Nathan Thomas of Charlotte, Matthew and Nicholas Thomas of Dobson; and a great-granddaughter, Emery Tilley of Ararat; a sister, Mary White of Winston-Salem; a brother-in-law, Jim Slaydon of Kernersville; and a step-sister-in-law, Violet Reece of Dobson; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Imogene Bowen of Wilkesboro. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by two sisters, Loree Russell and Creola Slaydon; her step-father, W.W. Reece; two step-sisters, Thelma Shores and Beulah Reece; and three step-brothers, Weldon, Everett and Harold Reece. Her funeral service will be held Sunday, July 11, 2010, at 3:00 PM at Fairview Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dan Merritt and Dr. Andy Atkins officiating. Her body will lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, July 10, 2010, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Fairview Baptist Church, 7659 NC 268, Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Jerry Pinkerton and the staff of Britthaven of Wilkesboro, Dr. Paul Garrison, and Dr. John Porter for their loving, compassionate care.
