Ms. Jo-Ann Lawson Coke, 68, of King, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2010, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Ms. Coke was born May 9, 1941, in Surry County, to the late Wendell and Josie Gwyn Lawson. She was a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law Judy and Darryl Kennedy of Bigelow, AR; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Junior Coake of Greer, SC, and Bobby and Nancy Coake of Lowgap; five grandchildren and a spouse, Larry and Iulia Coake of Columbus, OH, Donald Cardwell of Akron, OH, Heather Kennedy of Bigelow, AR, and Brandy Coake and Codie Coake, both of Greer, SC; two stepgrandchildren, Robert Kennedy of Columbus, OH, and Larry Kennedy of Fort Myers, FL; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Janis and Gene Danley of Ararat and Joan and Jimmy France of Mount Airy; a loving companion of her life, Bud Culler of King; and a special friend, Pat Abraham of Monroe, MI. In addition to her parents, Ms. Coke was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Kennedy; and two brothers, Larry Lawson and Wendell Lawson, Jr. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Chaplain Sharon Snow officiating. Burial will follow in the Turkey Ford Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Turkey Ford Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Lois Spicer, 1056 Turkey Ford Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
