Jo Ann Gilliam Marshall

Mrs. Jo Ann Gilliam Marshall, 76, of Ararat, VA, passed away at her home on December 5, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Carroll County on October 23, 1946, to the late Charlie and Viola Jones Gilliam.  Jo Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be sincerely missed.  Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 59 years, Jimmy Ray Marshall; daughters, Miss Jamie Marshall, and Ms. Kandy Marshall; 4 grandchildren, Nadia Burnett, Jimmy Cole Burnett, Ava Burnett, and Cash Burnett; sister, Shirley Willis; several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Marshall was preceded in death by her son, Freddie Ray Marshall; a sister, Diana Hall; and a brother, Charles Larry Gilliam.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the funeral home from 1:00 – 2:00PM.  Funeral services for Mrs. Marshall will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at 2:00PM.  Burial will follow in the Jones-Fleming Cemetery.  Flowers will be accepted by the family.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Marshall family.
