Jo Ann Palmer Simpson Hughes

Mrs. Jo Ann Palmer Simpson Hughes, age 86 of Pfafftown, North Carolina passed away at her daughter’s home in Troutman surrounded by her loving family.  Mrs. Hughes was born on November 27, 1935, in Surry County to the late Vester and Irene Collins Palmer.  Jo was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.  She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.  Left to cherish her memoires are her daughter and son-in-law, Gloria Simpson Willis and husband Freddie; a son and daughter-in-law, Greg Simpson and Caron; two step-sons, Fred Hughes and wife Gail, Chad Hughes and husband John; seven grandchildren, Adam Simpson and Megan, Travis Simpson and Leanne, Emily Simpson, Spencer Adams and Dan, Alex Willis, Danielle Beneville and Levi, Kelly Young and Brooks; eight great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law; Jack Palmer and Nancy; along with several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her first husband, Darrell Simpson; her second husband, Robert D. Hughes, III; a sister, Kathy Palmer Walker; and a brother, J. T. Palmer.  A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at 1:00 PM at God’s Acre with Dr. Neil Routh officiating.  No formal visitation will be held.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Moravian Church, 1401 North Main Street, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030.  Moody Funeral Services is serving the family.
