Mrs. Jo Nell Corder Branch, 73, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday morning, August 4, 2010, at her home. She was born December 11, 1936, in Surry County, to the late Dillard Green Corder and Annie Woodrow Corder. She retired from the cafeteria at Surry Community College and was a homemaker and worked on the family farm. Mrs. Branch was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Eugene Branch of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Darin Cozzens of Dobson; three sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Delta Branch and Marty and Tammy Branch, all of Mount Airy, and Johnny and Kristin Branch of Dobson; ten grandchildren, Travis Branch, Todd Butcher, Jennifer Vice, Sunny and Phillip Chrismon, Courtney and Alex Wagner, Meredith Cozzens, Taylor Cozzens, Jeanice Cozzens, Micah Cozzens, Colin Branch; ten great-grandchildren, Charlotte Chrismon, Chase Branch, Cody Jones, Kelly Kennan, Madison Jones, David Michael Vice, Faith Vice, Hope Vice, Noah Vice, and Luke Butcher; a sister, Jean Branch of Mount Airy; and a brother-in-law, Thomas Rowe of Dobson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Rowe. The funeral service will be held Friday, August 6, 2010, at 11:00 AM at New Hope Baptist Church, with the Rev. Trent Lyons officiating. Burial will follow in the Fisher River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening at New Hope Baptist Church from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Fisher River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Dorothy Cave, 935 Caves Mill Road, Dobson, NC 27017 or to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson is serving the Branch family.
