Jo Ann Whitaker

Ms. JoAnn Goins Whitaker, age 80, of Mt. Airy, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2019, at Twelve Oaks.  Ms. Whitaker was born in Surry County on April 24, 1939, to Percy “PD” and Tince Willard Goins.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, dear friend to so many and a life time member of Welcome Baptist Church.  Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Joey and Bertha Whitaker; grandchildren, Justin Whitaker and Shanda Whitaker.  In addition to her parents, Ms. Whitaker was preceded in death by a brother, J.D. Goins.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Darren Slate.  Burial will follow in Korner’s Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
