Joan Gay Snow

Miss Joan Gay Snow, 64, of Pensacola, FL, formerly of Dobson, NC, passed away Friday afternoon, December 9, 2011, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, FL. Miss Snow was born December 9, 1947, in Surry County, NC, the only child born to the late Oscar Cleatus and Hallie Mauldin Snow. Joan loved most everything except doctors. She loved to play bingo, put together puzzles, eat at Steak and Shake and O'Dell's Sandwich Shop, sing Christian songs, going to church, drinking Diet Coke, watching people, visiting friends, looking at pictures, receiving cards, collecting ink pens and Mardi-Gras beads, holiday dinners, and babies. Joan was a very loving person and believed in hugging everyone she met. Joan is survived by a maternal aunt, Cleo Matthews of Mount Airy, NC; a paternal uncle, Hugh Snow of Winston-Salem, NC; and many close and distant cousins. Joan leaves behind many friends in Pensacola, FL, and Mount Airy, NC, and her loving friend, Rocky. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Siloam Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bill Faw officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Siloam Baptist Church. Joan's cousin, Deborah, would like to thank everyone at Bayside Manor Nursing Home for the love, kindness, and care given to Joan during her years of residency at Bayside. Because of you, Joan truly considered Bayside her home, and she loved each and every one of you.
