JoAnn Victoria Simpson

Mrs. JoAnn Victoria Carpenter Simpson, age 81, of Mt. Airy, NC passed away at her home on Tuesday, February 1, 2022.  She was born in Surry County on May 11, 1940, to the late Preston Carpenter and the late Opal Wolfe Carpenter.  She was retired from Tultex, and a member of Blues Grove Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Ray Simpson Sr; son, Bobby Dean Simpson.  Surviving is her daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Harry Holyfield, Jean and Luke Spencer; sons and daughters-in-law, Sammy Ray and Christie Simpson, James Ray Simpson Jr. and Alicia Simpson; daughter-in-law, JoAnn East Simpson; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters and brother -in-law, Mary and J.V. Lowe, Brenda Francis.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday February 5, 2022, in the chapel of Blues Grove Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.   Rev. Ronald McCraw will conduct the services, music will be by Fonda Younger.  The family will receive friends at the Church from 12:00 PM until the time of her service at 2:00 PM.  There will be no formal services held at Moody-Davis Funeral Home.
