Joe Henry Collins

Mr. Joe Henry Collins, 64, of Cana, VA, passed away Friday, September 1, 2017, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Collins was born November 19, 1952, in Surry County, the son of the late George and Faye Wright Collins. Joe retired from R.J. Reynolds after 36 years of service and was a member of the Christian faith. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jo Chappell Collins; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Eddie Collins and Bobby and Misty Collins; two stepsons, Phillip Easter and his wife, Margaret, and Darrell Easter; four grandchildren, Amber Collins, April Collins, Breanna Collins, and Addison Collins; four stepgrandchildren, Kandy Alvear and her husband, Mark, Brad Easter, Chasity Baldwin and her husband, Cory, and Brooke Easter; two great-grandchildren, Jesse Perkey and Cameron Perkey; eight great-stepgrandchildren, Triston Day, Emily Easter, Micah Thomas Baldwin, Olivia James Baldwin, Chase Alvear, Bryice Alvear, Katie Alvear, and Macean Alvear; and a sister, Connie C. Spencer. The funeral service will be held Monday, September 4, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Flat Ridge Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dennis Bledsoe officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service.
