Joe Franklin Joyce

Mr. Joe Franklin Joyce, 91, of Mt. Airy passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Surry County on September 26, 1931, to the late Robert and Sarah Flippin Joyce.  Mr. Joyce retired from Pepsi after 36 years of employment and attended Ararat Friends Meeting.  Mr. Joyce proudly served our country in the United States Army.  He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Payne Joyce; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald Joyce, Steve and Mary Joyce, Stanley and Tammy Joyce; grandchildren, Andrew Joyce and Sayako Robison, Jake Joyce, Katie and Joe Ferguson; step grandchildren, Jeff and Lisa Stager, Kenny and Teresa Stager; great grandchild, Henslee Carol Ferguson; seven step great grandchildren; one step great great grandchild; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Joyce was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Carol H. Joyce; sisters and brothers-in-law, Hallie and Gus Schumaker, Lucy and Harsel Love; a brother, Willie P. Joyce.  A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dennis E. Moore officiating.  Burial will follow in Ararat Cemetery with military honors conducted by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mt. Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt.
