Joe Franklin McGee

Mr. Joe Franklin McGee, 82, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, October 17, 2010, at Central Continuing Care. Mr. McGee was born September 20, 1928, in Surry County, to the late David Herman and Willie Simmons McGee. He retired as a bookkeeper from Cook's Warehouse and Joyce Brothers Warehouse and was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church. He is survived by two sisters, Billie Slate of Mount Airy and Anna Watts of Gravois Mills, MO; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. McGee was preceded in death by his wife, Togie Jarrell McGee. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Robbie Vance officiating. Burial will follow in the Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
