Joel Timothy Jessup

Mr. Joel Timothy Jessup, age 64, of Westfield, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born on September 1, 1960 in Surry County to the late James “J.T” Thomas Jessup and Wilma Hill Jessup. He was a devoted father and grandfather with a quiet disposition and was known for his kindness to others. Mr. Jessup was a schoolteacher for more than 35 years and retired from Chestnut Grove Middle School. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Sebron Jessup; grandchildren, Jancsi, Laughter, Hayva, Lariat, Winslow, and Bohannon Jessup; sister, Melissa Jessup; brothers, Tommy Jessup (Kem), Jimmy Jessup (Sandra), Ronnie Jessup (Delana Simpson); special niece and caretaker, Jill Jessup Smith (Scott Smith). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Old Westfield Friends Church with service conducted by Rev. Ricky Rogers and Pastor Linda Anderson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 PM until the time for the service at the church. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, especially his doctors, Amy Poindexter and Dr. Waite for the kindness and support shown to the family during this time. They would also like to say a special thanks to Kathy Allen for her kindness and care given to Mr. Jessup and his family.
