Mr. John Sidney Cain, Jr., 76, of 604 Ingram Drive, King, passed away Friday, April 20, 2007, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Mr. Cain was born May 15, 1930, in Surry County, to the late John Sidney Cain, Sr. and Bertie Mary Moorefield Cain. Mr. Cain was better known as "Jay" to his family and friends. He lived in the Holly Springs community of Surry County for many years and was a lifelong farmer. He is survived by a sister, Beatrice Cain Tucker of King; numerous nieces; and numerous nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cain was preceded in death by his wife, Daphine Goins Cain; three sisters, Margaret Estelle Phillips, Lena Frances Cowick, and Ruby Cranfill; and four brothers, Arthur Lee Cain, Kenneth Gray Cain, Thomas William Cain, and Wade Aldean Cain. A graveside service will be held Monday, April 23, 2007, at 2:00 PM at Westfield Friends Meeting Cemetery. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Daniel R. Salmon. There will not be a formal visitation.
