John Albert Collins

Mr. John Albert Collins, 86, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Collins was born October 7, 1921, in York, SC, to Albert Hutson and Annie Dickson Collins. He served our country in the Untied States Navy during World War II. He was co-owner and operator of Dickson's Record Shop, a member of Central United Methodist Church, and a member of the Kiwanis Club since 1971, where he served as secretary, past lieutenant governor as well as past president. He is survived by his wife, Frances Beamer Collins of the home; two sisters, Ann Crutchfield of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Josephine Beamer of Sickerville, NJ; six nephews; a niece; and a sister-in-law, Opaleene Beamer of Greensboro. The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 24, 2007, at 3:30 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. John Ferree, and burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home on Saturday from 2:30 PM until time for the service.
