John Ralph Creed, Sr

Mr. John Ralph Creed, Sr., age 78 of 222 Valley View Road, Mt. Airy, NC passed away suddenly at his home February 22, 2007. He was the beloved husband of Mrs. Bette Sue Childress Creed for 57 years. Mr. Creed was born November 9, 1928 in Surry County to the late Arthur and Ruth Newsome Creed. Mr. Creed was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the US Army. He was the owner and operator of Wolfe Brothers Furniture in State Road, NC and was a well know businessman in the Mt. Airy and Elkin area. Mr. Creed had served in various Civic Clubs in many capacities. He was a member of the Mt. Airy Friends Church where he served on the Ministry and Council. Surviving are his wife, Bette Sue Childress Creed of the home, a daughter, Pam Creed Long and husband, David, New London, NC, a son, John R. Creed, Jr. and wife, Robin, Mt. Airy, NC, four grandchildren, Brian and Wesley Long, New London, NC, Madison and Maggie Creed, Mt. Airy, NC, two brothers, Richard "Dick" Creed and wife, Marie, Clemmons, NC and Perry Creed, Mt. Airy, NC. In addition to his parents, Mr. Creed was preceded in death by two sisters, Hattie Lou Creed and Joan Creed. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, February, 25, 2007 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mt. Airy conducted by Rev. Valdimir Strejcek. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Saturday night at Moody Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Mt. Airy Friends Church, 109 West Wilson Street, Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or to the donor's choice.
