John M. Gery, Jr.

Mr. John M. Gery, Jr., 88, of Mt. Airy, passed away at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, Wednesday, September 29, 2021. He was born in Passaic, County, January 6, 1933, to the late John M. Gery, Sr. and Susan Spell Gery. Mr. Gery was a hard worker, retiring from Bassett Furniture after many years of service. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and a friend to all that knew him. Left to cherish his memory are his son John Calvin Gery; a daughter Kathy Sue Gery; a granddaughter Crystal Gery; a brother and sister-in-law, Todd and Margit Gery; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gery was preceded in death by his wife Nellie Faye Thomas Gery; and brothers Ernest, and Adrian Gery. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, October 4, 2021, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ernest Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens with military honors by the VFW Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 12:30 PM until the time of the service. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Christine Mabe for the care she gave Mr. Gery, and Cindy Allen, a long-time family friend.
