John Hawks

Mr. John Daniel Hawks, age 88, of Mt. Airy, passed away on May 15, 2021 at his home.  He was born in Surry County on November 11, 1932 to the late Joseph Lee and Mary Reynolds Hawks.  Mr. Hawks was a retired fixer for Renfro Cooperation and proudly served our country in the U.S. Army.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will surely be missed by all who knew him.  Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 57 years, Helen Snyder Hawks, daughters and son-in-love, Cheryl and Donnie Arnder, Sandra and Stan Lechlitner; sons and daughter-in-law, Dan Hawks, Terry and Diane Hawks; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; best friends, Rev. Jack Anderson and Donnie Arnder.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with services conducted by Rev. Jack Anderson and Rev. Gary Storms.  Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens with military rights by VFW Honor Guard Post #2019 of Mt.
