John Purroy Jackson, Jr

John Purroy Jackson, Jr., passed away peacefully at his home in Carroll County, Virginia, on January 20th, 2017. He is preceded by his father John Purroy Jackson, Sr., and his mother Nova McGrady Jackson, and is survived by his wife Donna Vernon Jackson and their three sons: John Purroy Jackson III and wife Abigail Weaver; William Branson Jackson and wife Charlotte Freer Jackson and their son Able Freer Jackson; and Benjamin Guy Jackson; and sons by choice Roger Miller, with wife Sara Miller, and Damon Whitlock. John was a graduate of the University of Virginia, and remained a loyal fan throughout his life. He loved sports, history, reading, nature, and above all, people. John will be remembered for the countless lives he touched, the customers he served in over thirty-five years as a businessman and agent for Nationwide Insurance, and for the example he set to his family, friends, neighbors and acquaintances. The family would like to thank all of those people who worked with him over these many years, the customers he served, the basketball players he coached, his fellow volunteers in various service organizations, and everyone that he made better with a simple, kind word or a helpful hand. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations can be made to the Blue House Teaching Studio or to Hospice, and are greatly appreciated. He will be dearly missed. There will be a private service at home.
