John Garnet Jones

Mr. John Garnet Jones, age 71, of Mt. Airy, husband of Annie Draughn Jones, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2007 at Central Care. Mr. Jones was born in Surry County, August 25, 1935 to George and Mary Alene Hawks Jones. He was a retired farmer and was of the Primitive Baptist faith. Surviving are his wife, Annie Draughn Jones of the home; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mirlee and McKinley Dalton of Mt. Airy; Ella Mae Draughn of Dobson; Shirley and Talmadge Jenkins also of Dobson; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Parley J. "P. J." and Jane Jones of Mt. Airy; Eldridge "E.L." and Clara Mae Jones of Elk Creek, VA; Chester Harley and Barbara Jones of Siloam; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev. Ted Crotts. Burial will follow in Sandy Ridge Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 until the time of the service at the funeral home.
