John Dale Leftwich

Mr. John Dale Leftwich, age 67 of Lowgap, passed away Saturday, August 11, 2007 at his home. Mr. Leftwich was born in Surry County, August 2, 1940 to Walter Seba Leftwich, Sr. and Hallie Savada Collins Leftwich. Being the owner/operator of Surry Paint and Body allowed him to make many wonderful friends over the years as well as developing a special friendship and working relationship with the Surry County Sheriff's Dept. the Mount Airy Police Dept. and the NC State Highway Patrol. Surviving are his loving wife, Brenda Gillespie Leftwich of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Shannon Leftwich Marion and husband Tommy of Dobson; Annette Leftwich Golding and husband Steve of Mt. Airy; son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Vivian Leftwich of White Plains; step daughters, Tracy Sumner and husband Gary of Spartanburg, SC; Tina Kinney and husband Jack of Ofallon, MO; step sons, Jeff Goodson and Laura Merry of Elk Creek, VA; Tony and Lynn Goodson and Mark and Tracy Goodson all of Galax, VA; his grandchildren that he so dearly loved,ob each and every one, Lark Marion Burner, Sparrah Marion Brown, Madison and Cheltsea Golding, Eric and Tanner Easter, Nicholas and Jacob Jones, Brittni Kinney and Catie Goodson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pernie Sechrist of Cana, VA; Gloria Martin, Barbara and Rev. Tommy Kingsbury all of Mt. Airy; Connie and Charles Tolbert of Pilot Mountain; brother and sisters-in-law, Walter and Linda Leftwich and Daisy Leftwich all of Mt. Airy; several special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Leftwich was preceded in death by a brother, Rev. Danny Leftwich, Sr.; infant sisters, Mary Alice and Norma Alda Leftwich; and an infant brother, Harold Leftwich. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev. Jonathan Barker, Rev. Ivan Tate and Rev. Calvin Anderson. Burial will follow in Amazing Grace Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6:00 until 9:00 at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorial may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice at 401 Technology Lane, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
