John Henry Booker McCraw Sr.

Mr. John Henry Booker McCraw Sr, age 64, of Lambsburg , passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022 in Laurel Fork, VA.  He was born in Carroll County on May 3, 1957 to the late Henry B. and Vera Edwards McCraw.  Johnny was a skilled Mechanic who worked with his father and uncle at McCraw’s Exxon in Lambsburg, VA.  He later retired from Renfro Corp in Mt. Airy, NC.  Johnny was a mentor and teacher to everyone and there wasn’t a project or problem that he couldn’t solve. Johnny enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family.  He was so very proud of his sons and grandchildren; he loved them very much.  He had a big heart and broad smile, a good man who made friends wherever he went. Our family is broken hearted that this loving and caring man has died too young.  He will be missed until we meet again in Heaven. Earth’s loss is Heaven’s gain.  Left to cherish his memories are son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Elaine McCraw, John Henry Booker McCraw Jr.; grandchildren, Vera Ysabella McCraw, Walter McCraw, Eva Lynn McCraw; sisters and brother-in-law, Lois Lawson, Pam and Tim Reid as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. McCraw was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou McCraw, brother-in-law, Billy Lawson; niece, Callie Smith; great-niece, Alisha Chaney.  A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at 2:00pm at McCraw Family Cemetery in Cana with services conducted by Charlie Puckett.  The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy on Wednesday from 12:00pm until time to leave for the service.
