Mr. John Wayne McHone, age 45 of Mt. Airy passed away Saturday, September 13, 2008 at his home. Mr. McHone was born in Surry County June 15, 1963 to Wilma Harvey Sutphin and the late John Wayne McHone. He was a member in the US Army from 1982 until 1995 serving proudly in Desert Storm and Desert Shield. He was honorably discharged in 1995 receiving a bronze star. He was an avid hunter and a loving father. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Ashani Hiatt McHone of the home; a daughter, Cheyenne Hope McHone of the home; a son, Jacob Eli McHone of the home; mother, Wilma Mae Sutphin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Misty and Danny Collins of Mt. Airy, Linda and Don Cannoy of Mt. Airy; Carol and Jack Williams of Yadkinville; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Peggy Martin of Mt. Airy and Dennis and Ethel Martin of Mt. Airy; a special niece Amanda Lara of Mt. Airy and many other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Arnold Faw. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens with full military rites conducted by VFW Memorial Honor Guard post 2019 of Mt. Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mtn. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
