John Perry

Mr. John Gary Perry, 84, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday night, June 2, 2021, at his home.  He was born July 2, 1936, in Hickory, to the late John Dillon and Laura Plemmons Perry.  Mr. Perry proudly served our country in the United States Army while stationed in Germany.  He was a 1954 graduate of Mount Airy High School and attended Appalachian State University.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who will surely be missed by all who knew him.  Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 42 years, Beverly Harrelson Perry; his children, John Lee Perry and his wife, Tammy, Mark Christopher Perry and his wife, Denise, Hal Hunter and his wife, Mary, Chris Hunter and his wife, Dove, and Charles Hunter and his wife, Dawne; his grandchildren, Seth Perry and his wife, Jessica, Nicholas Perry, Karina Perry, Joseph Hunter, Ellie Hunter, Olivia Hunter, Grace Hunter, Reece Hunter, Wren Hunter, and Brooklyn Lewis and her husband, Bradley; his great-grandchild, John Cooper Perry; his brother-in-law, Bill Bowman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Perry was preceded in death by a sister, Dottie Bowman; and an infant sister, Norma Jean Perry.  A graveside service will be held Sunday, June 6, 2021, at 3:00 PM at Skyline Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Chris Langham and Dr. Jon Cawley officiating.  Military honors will be presented by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 until 2:30 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salem United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund.
