John William "Buck" Puckett

Mr. John William “Buck” Puckett, age 74 of Lowgap passed away at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Puckett was born on December 27, 1946, in Surry County to the late John and Eliza Senter Puckett. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a faithful member of Blue Ridge Baptist Church where he served over 30 years as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. John also enjoyed farming, his family, especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his girls (cows). He will be deeply missed by all that knew him. Left to cherish his memories is his wife of 58 years, Nancy Lovill Puckett; daughter and son-in-law, Ginger Puckett Dickerson and husband Billy; son and daughter-in-law, Chuck Bradley Puckett and wife Susanne; grandchildren, Chastin Dickerson and wife Hannah, Chaz Dickerson and wife Taylor, Devin Cole Puckett, Kassidy Lia Puckett; great-grandchildren, Aria Dickerson, Bash Dickerson and baby Nora Dickerson (on the way); brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Deborah Puckett; sisters-in-law, Dee Puckett, Ann Puckett; along with many several special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Puckett was preceded in death by a son, William Gregory “Willie” Puckett; a sister, Betty Puckett McMillian; two brothers, Jim Puckett and Ralph Puckett. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Blue Ridge Baptist Church, at 3:00 PM with Pastors Woody Flippin, Chastin Dickerson, Chris Parks, Tommy Shelton and Danny Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Blue Ridge Baptist Church, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family. The family would like to extent a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative care for their loving care during Mr. Puckett’s illness.
