John Frank Sechrist

Mr. John Frank Sechrist, 72, of Mt. Airy passed away at Surry Community Health Care Thursday, August 22, 2019.  He was born in Surry County July 25, 1947 to the late Luther Amos and Mary Fulp Sechrist.  Mr. Sechrist was a talented musician, playing guitar and mandolin with the Faith Brothers Gospel Group as well as playing with several other talented musicians in the area.  He enjoyed spending time fishing with his brothers.  He loved his family and adored his grandchildren making sure they received what they asked for.  Mr. Sechrist is survived by his loving wife Janie Butcher Sechrist; a daughter Janet Brendle; a son Frankie Sechrist; grandchildren, Samantha Snow and Kayla Gunter; four great-grandchildren; a sister Katherine McMillian and brothers, Jesse, Luther Ray and Dennis Sechrist.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Sechrist was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Easter and Mary Hiatt.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Easter and Rev. Shirley Combs.  The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt.
