John Henry Smith, Sr

Mr. John Henry Smith, Sr. age 80 of Lowgap passed away at Central Continuing Care Saturday, July 19, 2008. Mr. Smith was born on December 16, 1927. He served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. National Guard for 23 years and was a member of Liberty Union Baptist Church. Mr. Smith is survived by two sons, John Smith, Jr of Lowap and Royce Smith of Mt. Airy; two grandchildren, Dawn Stockner and Justin Smith. His wife, Ruth Loretta Lowe Smith, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00PM Monday, July 21, 2008 at Liberty Union Baptist Church by Rev. Bill Spurlin. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors conducted by the American Legion Post 123. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt.
