John Wayne Spencer

Mr. John Wayne Spencer, age 68 of Ridgeway, Virginia went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.  He was born in Patrick County on July 11, 1954 to the late Daniel Richard Spencer, Sr. and Pheobe Dobbins Spencer Nowlin.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Lee Spencer, and James Richard Spencer; one nephew, Daryl Timothy Spencer; and one niece, Jacqueline Spencer Jones.  John faithfully served in the United States Navy and later enjoyed volunteering with American Legion Homer Dillard Post 078. He enjoyed a successful career as a professor of accounting and economics at the New Business College in Martinsville.  He was a devoted member of New Hope Baptist Church in Stuart, VA, where he served as a deacon.  He had a strong faith and enjoyed attending church as long as he was able.  He will be remembered for his passion in teaching, dedication to his family, and faith.

Left to cherish the memory of John Wayne Spencer are his devoted wife of 28 years, Angela Reynolds Spencer; four sons, Timothy Spencer and Julia Naill, Chad Spencer and wife, Amber, Marcus Spencer, and Nicholas Spencer; two grandchildren, Amira and Cayson, six siblings, Daniel Richard Spencer, Jr, Joseph Spencer and wife, Patty Ann, Ronald Spencer and wife, Stephanie, Karen Spencer, Melva Ellis, and Verna Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service for Mr. Spencer will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ingram Spencer Family Cemetery with his brother, Elder Daniel Richard Spencer officiating.  Military Rites provided by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. Friends can pay their final respects at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Legion Homer Dillard Post 078, P.O.
