John Christopher Thompson

Mr. John Christopher Thompson, age 58, of Clemmons, passed away Friday, June 15, 2018, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.  Mr. Thompson was born in Forsyth County on December 20, 1959, to Robert Lee Thompson and the late Billyken Nell Chilton Thompson.  He grew up in Tanglewood Park, and “enjoyed his big playground.”  Mr. Thompson was an incredibly talented artist and free-lance photographer.  Some of his wonderful talents may be viewed at www.johncthompsonart.com.  He loved his many adventures on his motorcycle.  Mr. Thomspon was proud to serve as a deputy with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Dept. where he had the privilege of befriending many judges, attorneys, co-workers, and detainees.  His favorite part of the day was directing traffic at North West Elementary School where he always had a loving smile for everyone.  John will always be remembered for his kind and loving spirit.  Among the many who will forever cherish his sweet memory is his devoted wife, Ann Paulling Thompson; a daughter, Leigh Ann Thompson, his father, Robert L. Thompson, Sr., his brother, Robert L. Thompson, Jr. and many dear relatives, friends and colleagues.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at Madison Heights Free Will Baptist Church by Rev. Bill Paulling.  The family will receive friends at the church two hours prior to the service.  Burial will be in West End Cemetery in St. Matthews, SC on Wednesday at 2:00 PM.  Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home at 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103, or to The Simstein Fund at FMC Foundation, 3333 Silas Creek Parkway, Box 19, Winston-Salem, NC 27102.  The family would like to express a special thank you to The Derrick L. Davis Cancer Center at Forsyth Cancer Center for the exceptional care and compassion given to John during his time there.
