John Elvin Vaughn Sr.

Mr. John Elvin Vaughn Sr., age 82, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  He was born on June 16, 1939 in Carroll County to the late Harvey and Myrtle McCraw Vaughn.  Left to cherish his memories are his former wife, Joann Edwards Vaughn; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Frances Vaughn, Kim and Danny Vaughn, Ronnie Vaughn, Jerry Vaughn and Becky; grandchildren, Tyler Vaughn and wife Megan, Hannah Slate and husband Cody; great-grandchildren, Jo Jo Vaughn, Willow Slate; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mildred and Jimmy Ratliff, Lorraine Heath, Lettie and Jimmy Heath, Patsy and Larry Liss; brothers and sisters-in-law, Melvin and Mary Vaughn, Thurmond and Jeanette Vaughn; special friends, Linda Smith, and Robert Nichols who was like a brother to him.  In addition to his parents Mr. Vaughn was preceded in death by sisters,  Imogene Stevens, Alma Reekes, Pauline Creed; brothers, Carl, Herman, and Calvin Vaughn.  A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022 at 11:00 AM at New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with services conducted by Rev.
