Mr. John William Westmoreland, Jr., 84, of Oviedo, FL, passed away Friday, December 11, 2009, in Florida. Mr. Westmoreland was born April 2, 1925, in Carroll County, VA, to John William Westmoreland, Sr. and Mary Alice Willard Westmoreland. He was a retired auto sales manager. Surviving are a daughter, LuAnn and Steve Marshall of Orlando, FL; grandchildren and their spouses, Peter and Hajar Westmoreland of Seattle, WA, Joseph Wright of Orlando, FL, Erica Kail of Orlando, FL, and Steve, Jr. and Natalie Marshall of Apopka, FL; four great-grandchildren, Trey Marshall, Amanda Marshall, Aubrey Jean Marshall, and Evan Beaudry; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Norma and Don Lampron of Mount Airy and Edie and Arlyss "Jack" Jackson of Viera, FL; and a former daughter-in-law and her husband, Paula and Doug Duppstadt of Oviedo, FL. In addition to his parents, Mr. Westmoreland was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth "Pete" Cox Westmoreland; a son, William Samuel Westmoreland; and a sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Gifford Rigney. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at 2:30 PM at Epworth United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dennis W. "Bud" Cameron officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with full military honors conducted by the American Legion Post 123. The family will receive friends Monday, December 14, 2009, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Epworth United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 132, Cana, VA 24317.
