John Marshall Wilson

Mr. John Marshall Wilson, 75, of Lowgap, passed away Friday afternoon, January 18, 2019, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  Mr. Wilson was born October 15, 1943, in Surry County, one of six children born to the late Brisco and Nollie Lowe Wilson.  John worked as a truck driver for 40 years and later worked as a groundskeeper at Orchard Mountain.  He was a member of Charity Baptist Church.  He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Wilma Jean Carroll Wilson of the home; a daughter, Amy Wilson of Lowgap; two sons and daughters-in-law, John Michael and Crystal Jeanette Wilson of Fries, VA, and Robert and Loretta Lynn Wilson of Lowgap; his grandchildren, Dwayne and Julie Smith of Independence, VA, Cory and Chyna Wilson of Mount Airy, Josh and Megan Wilson of Stoneville, Zach and Anna Wilson of Mount Airy, Jarod and Morgan Wilson of Lowgap, Hank Ward of Lowgap, and Molly Reeves of Lowgap; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Nancy and Lewis Melton of Coleman, VA, and Ruby Patton of Newport News, VA; a brother, Jerry Wilson of Lowgap; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Wilson of Lowgap; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by a sister, Jessie Grey Woodard; and a brother, Robby Wilson.  The funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Liberty Baptist Church, with the Rev. Clyde Stewart officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC  27017; Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC  27030; or the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O.
