Johnnie J. Hayes

Mr. Johnnie J. Hayes, 81, of Dobson passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Northern Hospital of Surry County surrounded by his family. He was born is Surry County on October 6, 1927 to the late William Ted and Martha Cave Hayes. Mr. Hayes was a self employed car dealer and a veteran of the US Army and Air Force having served our country during WWII. Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Thompson and Juan Torres of Dobson; four grandchildren Amie Watson Hall and husband Kevin of Dobson, Joe and wife Amy Thompson of White Plains, Brian Hayes and fiance, Brandi of Mt. Airy and Krista Hayes of Elkin; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maurine Gates of Dobson and Gail Holland of Kernersville; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Thurmond and Joann Hayes of Dobson, Teddy Ray and Betty Hayes of Mt. Airy and Ronald and Carol Hayes of Olive Branch, Miss. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Burdick Hayes; a son Gary W. Hayes and a brother, Louie Hayes. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral home by the Rev. Jimmy Tucker with burial to follow in Dobson City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Monday at Moody-Davis Funeral Home.
