Johnnie Mae Hawks Rippey

Mrs. Johnnie Mae Hawks Rippey age 65 of 1024 Oak Ridge Road, Cana, VA, widow of Rev. Lloyd Jay "L.J." Rippey passed away on Monday March 12, 2007 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Rippey was born in Surry County on May 9, 1941 daughter of the late Roger Hawks and Myrtle Virginia Johnson Hawks and was a member of Dora Highway Baptist Church in Pulaski, VA. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Rev. Kevin Combs of Cana, VA; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Mary Lee Rippey of Tobaccoville; four grandchildren, Matthew Combs, Madison Combs and Makayla Combs all of Cana and Ashlyn Rippey of Tobaccoville; two sisters and brother-in-law, Joyce Miller of Mount Airy and Bonnie and Gray Fowler of Troutman and a brother and sisters-in-law, Dale and Joyce Hawks of Mount Airy and Dot Hawks of Matthews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Rippey was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Hawks. The service will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be conducted by Rev. Kevin Combs and Rev. Buster Sechrist with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Gideons International P.O. Box 1032 Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home on Wednesday night from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
