Johnny Sanford Creed

Mr. Johnny Sanford Creed, 74, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born November 4, 1935, in Yadkin County, to the late Robert Franklin and Laura Olivia Benbow Creed. Johnny retired from Spencer's Inc. after 33 years of dedicated service. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 54 years, Marie Lewis Creed of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Shelby and Jeff Boles of Pilot Mountain; two granddaughters whom he adored, Meagan Boles LaBerge and her husband, Ronnie, of King and Kayla Marie Boles of Florence, SC; and two sisters, Mattie Hutchens of Glade Valley and Christine Whitaker of East Bend. In addition to his parents, Mr. Creed was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Creed and Marvin Creed. The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 1, 2010, at 3:00 PM at Piney Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mark A. Reece, Jr., the Rev. Kermit L. Gray, and the Rev. Amos Lyon officiating. Entombment will follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson, where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Piney Grove Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1022, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
