Mr. Johnny Max Leftwich, 55, of Lambsburg, VA, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2009, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Leftwich was born May 24, 1954, in Surry County, to Betty Jane Surratt Leftwich and the late Haskell Johnny Leftwich. Mr. Leftwich worked at Vulcan Materials after graduating high school. He later became a resident at Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville, VA, earning a degree in computer programming. He worked in the accounting office at the University of Virginia. After returning to Lambsburg, Mr. Leftwich attended Surry Community College. He was a kind, grateful man with huge heart who smiled all the time. Mr. Leftwich is survived by his mother, Betty Jane Surratt Leftwich; two half-brothers, Tommy Leftwich and Jimmy Leftwich; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at 2:00 PM at the Surratt Family Cemetery in Lambsburg, VA, with the Rev. Dud Spencer officiating. There will not be a formal visitation. The family will receive friends after the service at the home of Ethel Amburn, 1861 Pipers Gap Road, Mount Airy. The family would like to express a special thanks to caregiver, Kim Badgett, for the wonderful care Mr. Leftwich was given.
