Johnny Allen Mears

Mr. Johnny Allen Mears, 58, of Mt. Airy passed away at his home, Wednesday, October 30, 2019.  He was born in Surry County, February 27, 1961 to Vera Edmonds Mears and the late Ray Allen Mears.  Mr. Mears was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother and friend.  He enjoyed many sports, but his passion was pitching horseshoe.  After winning multiple state championships, he was a feared competitor.  In addition to his mother, Mr. Mears is survived by his daughters, Ashley Bryant and husband, Jacob, Pamela “Nikki” Mears and fiancé Justin Mabe; son, Joshua Mears and wife, Allison; grandchildren, Syler, Kyson, Merritt, Madelynn, Ellie and Emerson; a sister, JoAnn Greene and husband Tom; a brother Jerry Mears and wife Jo Ann.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Easter officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
