Johnny Van Horn

Mr. Johnny Max Van Horn, age 82, of Dobson, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2021, at his residence. He was born December 20, 1938 in Burke County to the late Sophronia Cline Van Horn and the late William Van Horn. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, JoAnn Evans Van Horn; sons and daughter-in-law, Desmond Howard Van Horn and Evan Deryk and Marcella Van Horn; grandchildren, Kelley, Elizabeth, Luke and Ethan; great-grandchild, Thea; and his brother and sister-in-law, Howard  and Judy Van Horn.             Mr. Van Horn attended Brevard College, and graduated from Appalachian State University. He was also an English professor at Surry Community College until his retirement, after which he operated the Van Horn Seafood Restaurant in Dobson. No formal services will be held at the funeral home.  The family may have a service at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the giver’s choice.  Moody-Davis Funeral Service is serving the Van Horn family.
