Johnny Eugene Willard

Mr. Johnny Eugene Willard, 53, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2007, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Willard was born April 10, 1954, son of Elbert Eugene "Rabbit" Willard, Sr. and the late Dotzene Gillenwaters Willard. Mr. Willard had been employed at Renfro Corporation and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are a daughter, Angela Willard Kingsbury of Pilot Mountain; a son, Johnny Ray Willard of Mount Airy; a grandson, Garrett Michael Cannoy of Pilot Mountain; his father, Elbert Eugene "Rabbit" Willard, Sr. of Mount Airy; three sisters, Judy Willard and Brenda Willard, both of Mount Airy, and Linda Threatt of Clinton; a brother, Elbert Eugene Willard, Jr. of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews; special family members, Amanda Brindle and Billy Spencer Freeman, both of Mount Airy; a stepsister and husband, Shirley and Gary Collins of Mount Airy; and a stepbrother and wife, Wade and Sharon Hodge of Mount Airy. In addition to his mother, Mr. Willard was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Sue Collins; a brother, Jack Willard; a grandson, Gabriel Thomas Kingsbury; and his stepmother, Lettie Hodge Willard. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 19, 2007, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Steve Johnson and the Rev. Barry Clement, and burial will follow in Midkiff Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
