Joseph Abe "J.A." Midkiff, Jr.

         Mr. Joseph Abe “J.A.” Midkiff, Jr., age 78 of Stuart, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2019, at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart.  He was born in Patrick County on February 1, 1940, to the late Joseph A. Midkiff, Sr. and Elsie Brammer Midkiff.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Midkiff was preceded in death by an infant brother, Donald Edward Midkiff; a brother, William Henry Midkiff; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Midkiff.  He had been a barber in Patrick County for almost 50 years.  He began playing the fiddle as a teenager and later played with the Country Boys group for a number of years.  He was a loving and devoted husband, daddy and grandpa. 

         Mr. Midkiff is survived by his wife, Linda DeHart Midkiff of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Jeff Richardson of Stuart; two grandsons, Joseph Paul DeHart Mabe and Noah John Midkiff Mabe; a brother, Conrad Midkiff of Bassett; a brother-in-law, Aaron DeHart of Stuart; and several cousins.

         Funeral services for Mr. Midkiff will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Elder David Kamoda and Rev.
