Mr. Joseph Paul "Joe" Badgett, age 19, of Mt. Airy, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday March 31, 2007 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born in Forsyth County on February 25, 1988 to Timothy Ray and Lynnette Cave Badgett. A loving son, grandson, nephew and friend, Mr. Badgett was a 2006 graduate of Surry Central High School. He was a faithful member of Salem Fork Baptist Church where he had perfect attendance for six years. He shared a love for farming with his Uncle Phillip, was an avid fisherman and a member of the Dobson Fire Department. Left to cherish his memory are his loving parents Timothy Ray and Lynnette Cave Badgett of the home; his maternal grandmother Sylvia "Mema" Cave Shelton and husband Tom of Westfield; paternal grandparents, Ivan and Ella Badgett of Dobson, NC; two special aunts Carol and husband Ted Tarlton and Tonya Royal; special uncle Phillip and wife Dena Cave; uncle and "riding buddy" Lonnie Badgett; several special cousins and friends. His maternal grandfather, Daryl Cave preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home with Rev. Van Brindle officiating. Burial will follow in the Dobson City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday at the funeral home and other times at the home of his grandparents, Ivan and Ella Badgett 414 Adams Street Dobson, NC and at Mr. Badgett's home at 364 Holt Badgett Lane off of Redbrush Road. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society 500 East Moorhead Street, Suite 2211, Charlotte, NC 28202.
