Joseph "Edward" Cave

Mr. Joseph “Edward” Cave, age 83, of Dobson, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born July 27, 1940, in Surry County, to the late Joseph Edgar “Pete” Cave and the late Bessie Hodges Cave. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Annette Cave, and his brothers, Richard Alvin Cave, Roy Lee Cave, and Delmar Cave.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 62 years, Carolyn Louise Reynolds Cave, his daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy Cave Youngquist (Carl) and Shannon Cave Woppman (Melvin); grandsons, Derrick James Woppman and Justin Ryan Woppman; great-grandson, Ryder James Woppman; sisters, Peggy Flippen, Edith Flippen, and Carolyn Bodenhamer; many loving nieces and nephews, several brothers-in-law; several sisters-in-law; and his very special feline companion, Shady.

Mr. Cave was a loving husband, Daddy and Pa. He had worked at Pike Electric, Timber Peg/Log Homes, and was a farmer. He was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church for 61 years. Mr. Cave loved passing his knowledge down to his daughters and grandsons and anyone else that would listen. He was also known to carry the sharpest knives and have the best deer jerky in Surry County. He also enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and truly had a green thumb. Visitation will be Monday, April 8, 2024, from 3:00-4:00 PM at Rock Hill Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 4:00 PM in the church with Pastor Dale Johnson and Pastor Craig Key officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
